Why we picked it

This 1963 Impala Sport Coupe has a supercharged, fuel-injected 6.2L V8 from a Cadillac CTS-V, a modern automatic, four-wheel discs (CPP front, CTS-V rear calipers), Viking double-adjustable shocks and front and rear sway bars. The listing says it has black paint, refreshed brightwork, Super Sport trim and a custom tan leather interior, and shows 297 miles, with true mileage unknown. The seller says it has a clean Nevada title in the current owner's name.

The current bid of $25,500 after 10 bids is well under what comparable modified 63 Impalas have brought, but the auction runs until November 10 and bids usually climb near the end. Reserve status is not stated, and Hagerty Marketplace adds a buyer fee, so factor that in. The builder is not named, so ask for build receipts.

The value check

The current bid is $25,500. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $50,000–$57,500, so the middle of the market is about $53,750. That put this car 53% under. Bids usually climb in the final hours, so the discount will likely shrink.

Modified 1963 Impalas have recently brought $50,000 to $57,500: a modified Impala SS sold for $57,500 in May 2025, and an LS1, air-ride 1963 Impala was bid to $50,000 on Hagerty in May 2026 (classic.com's wider range for modified 1963 Impalas runs about $35,000 to $65,000). The current $25,500 bid, about $27,300 with a roughly 7% buyer fee, is about 49% under the $53,750 midpoint, but six days rem

Where the numbers come from:

What to check

  • The builder is not named; ask for receipts, the parts list and who did the wiring and tuning for the CTS-V supercharged engine
  • The VIN decodes to a V8 Impala Sport Coupe; the SS trim was added, so do not pay a true-SS premium
  • Check the floor pans, trunk floor, lower quarters and the body mounts on the X-frame, which are common rust spots on 1961-64 Chevrolets
  • The X-frame has no side rails; with this much power, look for chassis stiffening or frame reinforcement
  • The transmission model is not specified; confirm what it is and how it is controlled
  • Confirm the clean Nevada title matches the VIN and look into California smog rules if you register it there

Making it drive like new

Most of the heavy lifting is done: modern supercharged EFI power, four-wheel discs and adjustable shocks. Next steps would be tubular control arms and a stiffer rear link setup to suit the power, subframe or X-frame reinforcement, a modern fuel system check, Vintage Air if it has no A/C, and three-point belts.
