Reading these prices

Starting prices aren't always comparable. Some include suspension, steering and brakes; some are a bare frame or front clip and the rest is extra. Check the Front and Rear columns and each product's notes before comparing totals. "Price on request" means the builder quotes each build. Confirm with the builder before you order, and send corrections through our contact page.

Upgrade the original chassis

How it's built
Body-on-frame X-frame (center X with no side rails; the body rockers carry the side loads)
Front suspension
SLA A-arms with ball joints and coil springs; Saginaw recirculating-ball steering
Rear suspension
Live axle with coil springs: two lower trailing arms, one upper arm (two on some 409 cars) and a Panhard/track bar
Weak spots
Without side rails the X-frame twists and gives little side-impact protection. The rear upper-arm crossmember is a known weak point under traction, and the stock bushings and Panhard bar let the axle wander.

Stiffening the body or frame? We list 1 kit for this car, such as frame rails, subframe connectors and braces, on its Chassis stiffening page.
