1967 Porsche 911 SWB coupe with 2.7L six, Porsche CoA and no reserve

No-reserve SWB 911 with a CoA and an easy 2.7 already fitted; a natural backdate base, though bids will climb.

Why we picked it

This is a 1967 911 coupe (chassis 308073) from the Thoroughbred Motorsports Collection, offered at no reserve through Hagerty's Broad Arrow team. It is finished in Aga Blue over black with 1968 911 sport seats, and it carries a replacement 2.7-liter flat-six on Webers that the seller says came from a circa-1974 911. It includes a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a clean Pennsylvania title in the owner's name, a spare, jack and a replacement grille vent assembly.

When we checked, the high bid was $20,000 after 11 bids, with about 16 days to go. Early 911s with non-original engines have sold for roughly $36,000 to $72,000, so this one starts well below the market. Bids usually climb hard on no-reserve early 911s, and the listing says little about rust or how well it runs, so budget for an inspection before you bid.

The value check

When we found it, the bid was $60,000. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $35,912–$72,000, so the middle of the market is about $53,956.

Early short-wheelbase 911s with non-original or tired drivetrains have sold between a $35,912 1968 soft-window Targa project on BaT and a $72,000 1967 coupe with a rebuilt 2.7 on PCARMARKET; original 1967 base coupes run much higher (EUR 90,000 in Paris, classic.com CMB about $92k). The $20,000 bid is about 63% under the $53,956 (comp range $35,912-$72,000) midpoint.

Where the numbers come from:

What to check

  • No-reserve auction; expect the bid to rise a lot before the Oct 28 close, plus a 7% buyer's premium ($500 minimum)
  • Sold as is, where is; the listing does not address rust or confirm it runs well (it was driven about 10 miles at a time)
  • Non-original 2.7 engine; early 2.7 magnesium cases can pull head studs, so check for leaks and ask about stud work
  • Inspect battery boxes, front pan, floors, longitudinals, kidney bowls and rear torsion tube mounts for rust and old repairs
  • Must be collected from Savannah, GA after payment; confirm title paperwork and the CoA match chassis 308073

Making it drive like new

With the 2.7 already in, this is close to a ready-made backdate or outlaw base: refresh the engine with Carrera tensioners and new head studs, add a modern ignition, fit Turbo tie rods, Bilstein shocks and fresh bushings, upgrade to vented brakes, and add proper seats with three-point belts. Keeping the CoA and documenting all work will protect resale.

How it ended

It sold for $92,020 on Oct 28, 2026, against a market value of about $53,956 when we found it.
