1963 Chevrolet Impala SS 4-Speed with Corvette 327, FAST EFI and disc brakes
Trim-tag-backed Impala SS with a 327, 4-speed and EFI, bid at less than half of recent sales.
1963 Chevrolet Impala SS
Ended Why we picked it
The trim tag on this 1963 Impala hardtop shows the factory Super Sport bucket-seat interior. It now runs a 327 that the seller says came from a 1967 Corvette, with FAST TBI fuel injection, Edelbrock heads and intake, and a 4-speed manual. The same owner has had it for 34 years. It was restored in 1992-93, changed from Ermine White to red, and won class trophies at the 1996 Grand National Roadster Show and Sacramento Autorama. Other upgrades include power front disc brakes, a 3-link rear, a front sway bar, PST bushings, tilt steering, power windows and a Bluetooth stereo.
The current bid of $22,000 is far under the $40k-$55k that comparable SS cars have been bringing. The auction ends October 13, and bids usually climb near the end. The restoration is now about 30 years old, so expect some wear.
The value check
When we found it, the bid was $22,000. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $40,000–$55,000, so the middle of the market is about $47,500. That put this car 54% under.
Modified 1963-64 Impala SS hardtops sold for $50,600 to $55,000 at Mecum in September 2026, and a mostly original 1963 SS brought $40,000 on BaT on October 5.

What to check
- Check the trunk floor, the lower quarter panels behind the rear wheels and the floor pans under the carpet for rust
- The X-frame has no full side rails; look for rust or crash damage at the rear kick-ups
- The seller notes paint blemishes on the trunk and wear from an older restoration
- The odometer was zeroed during the restoration (it read 165,825 before); the mileage is TMU
- Ask for receipts on the 327 and FAST EFI and confirm the 3-link rear setup is properly done
Making it drive like new
It already has most of the right upgrades. Next steps would be rear disc brakes, a 5-speed overdrive manual for highway cruising, tubular front control arms with modern geometry, and a refresh of the 30-year-old wiring.

How it ended
Bidding reached $34,352 but the car didn't sell (ended Oct 13, 2026). Unsold cars often get relisted, so it may turn up again.
