1961 Chevrolet Biscayne 2-Door Sedan with a 348 Tri-Power and 4-speed, bidding at $12,000
A W-motor, three-deuce, four-speed Biscayne at project-car money, with ten days still to run.
1961 Chevrolet Biscayne
Sold Why we picked it
Why we picked it: this Baltimore-built 1961 Biscayne two-door sedan left the factory with a six, but it now carries a 348 V8 with a 3x2-barrel Tri-Power setup and a floor-shifted four-speed. It wears a white refinish over a gray interior, shows 31,000 miles (true mileage unknown), and the seller says it has a clean Indiana title. It is offered at no reserve, and the high bid was $12,000 when we checked.
Modified 1962-64 Biscayne posts with manual gearboxes have been selling for roughly $27,000 to $37,500, so even a big jump in bidding could leave room. Bids usually climb in the last day, so set a firm limit. The seller did not build or restore the car and gives no written condition report, so study the gallery photos closely.
The value check
When we found it, the bid was $19,259. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $26,750–$37,500, so the middle of the market is about $32,125. That put this car 40% under.
Modified 1962-64 Biscayne two-door posts with manual gearboxes sold between $26,750 and $37,500 in 2025-26 (BaT, Hagerty, Barrett-Jackson, GAA); a 1961 project post brought $11,250, so this running, painted car sits well above project money.

What to check
- The 348 is a swap; the listing gives no engine numbers or rebuild history
- No written condition or rust report; check floors, trunk pan, lower quarters and the X-frame rails
- Ask about the rear axle ratio and whether the brakes and cooling were upgraded for the V8
- Mileage is shown as TMU (true mileage unknown)
- Bids usually climb near the end; the current bid is not the final price
Making it drive like new
Keep the 348 Tri-Power as the centerpiece and spend on the chassis: front disc brakes with a dual master cylinder, a bolt-on 5-speed or keep the 4-speed with a Hurst linkage refresh, tubular control arms and modern shocks, and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan for summer driving.

How it ended
It sold for $22,738 on Oct 27, 2026, against a market value of about $32,125 when we found it.
