1957 Jaguar XK140 MC Roadster, matching numbers with Heritage certificate
Documented MC roadster at a fraction of market with three days left; bids will climb a long way.
Sold Rare The seller says this is one of roughly 90 MC (C-type head) roadsters built for 1957, documented by a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate as an SE/MC car with matching-numbers engine and gearbox.
Why we picked it
This XK140 open two-seater is offered from the Samuel L. Peters Collection through a Broad Arrow specialist on Hagerty Marketplace. It is finished in Dove Gray over Imperial Maroon leather, runs the 3.4-liter twin-cam six with the C-type head, and the seller says the 70,100 miles are original. A Jaguar Heritage certificate, service records from 1995-2018, tool roll, tonneau, top and side curtains come with it, along with a clean Ohio title.
At $35,500 with 13 bids it sits far below what documented XK140 roadsters have been bringing, but expect the price to rise sharply before the Oct. 6 close. The listing does not say whether there is a reserve, and the only disclosed flaw is a top that needs re-stretching, so treat the gallery photos and an inspection as the real condition report.
The value check
When we found it, the bid was $55,500. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $81,000–$111,007, so the middle of the market is about $96,003.50. That put this car 42% under.
Original-condition XK140 roadsters sold for $81,000-$92,400 in Aug-Sep 2026, and SE/MC roadsters for $100,800-$111,007. The current bid of $35,500 is about 63% under that midpoint, but it is an early bid and the reserve status is not stated.

What to check
- Reserve status is not stated on the listing; confirm with the Broad Arrow specialist before bidding
- Check sills, floors, A-post bases and the rear wheel arches; XK bodies rot behind the trim and under the doors
- Verify chassis, engine and gearbox numbers against the Heritage certificate in person
- The soft top was stored folded and unattached for years; budget for top and frame work
- Must be picked up by Sunday Oct. 11, so arrange transport ahead of time
- Service records stop in 2018; plan on a full recommissioning (fuel system, brakes, tires, cooling)
Making it drive like new
Keep this one close to original to protect the MC value. Sensible, reversible upgrades are a five-speed gearbox conversion, an alloy radiator with electric fan, a rack-and-pinion steering kit and modern radial tires, all of which can be undone later.
How it ended
It sold for $90,950 on Oct 6, 2026, against a market value of about $96,003.50 when we found it.
