1991 Chevrolet Camaro RS Convertible, no-reserve auction with an early bid
A cheap V8 drop-top Camaro with no reserve and almost two weeks left. Expect the bid to rise.
1991 Chevrolet Camaro
Why we picked it
This 1991 RS convertible has the 5.0-liter V8 and a 4L60 four-speed automatic. It has a clean Michigan title, and the seller says the CARFAX shows no accidents. The listing is open about its condition: there are paint flaws, interior wear, and some rust on the underside.
There's no reserve, and with about 12 days left it has one bid of $5,500. Recent RS convertibles sold for between about $6,000 as projects and $15,000 as nicer drivers. That makes it a low-cost way into a third-gen convertible that's worth stiffening and upgrading. Bids usually climb near the end, so set a limit.
The value check
The current bid is $7,000. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $6,250–$15,000, so the middle of the market is about $10,625. That put this car 34% under. Bids usually climb in the final hours, so the discount will likely shrink.
Third-generation RS convertibles sold for $6,250 (a 151k-mile project) and $15,000 (a 45k-mile driver) in late summer 2026. The current $5,500 bid is about 48% under the midpoint, but bids usually climb before the end of an auction that runs this long.

What to check
- The CARFAX shows a mileage inconsistency reported in May 2023, so treat the mileage as unverified.
- Third-gen convertibles flex. Inspect the rocker and floor areas and the factory convertible reinforcements for rust or cracking.
- The seller notes rust on the underside. Get close photos of the floor pans, the rear hatch-area seams, the subframe mounts and the rear spring perches.
- Check the power top's motor, hoses and fabric, and look for water leaks into the trunk and footwells.
- Look for 4L60 wear, such as slipping 3-4 shifts or a harsh engagement.
- The auction ends Nov. 6. Bids usually climb in the final hours.
Making it drive like new
Start with subframe connectors, which matter even more on a convertible. Then add a Watts link or panhard bar with a torque arm, modern shocks and lowering springs, and larger brakes from a 1LE or a C5 Corvette. A 4L60E swap or an LS/4L65E package would add real power while keeping the RS look.
