1975 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT 360 V8
A top-trim Dentside Ranger XLT with a 360 V8, priced near the low end of the market for original trucks.
1975 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT
Why we picked it
Why we picked it: The Ranger XLT was Ford's top trim for the 1973-79 F-100, and original examples have recently sold for about $16k-$25k at auction. This green-over-gold 1975 has a 360 V8 and an automatic, and a dealer in Honolulu is asking $14,597. The dealer lists 78,533 miles and a clear title.
The listing says very little else. There is no description of the paint, the rust or the interior, and the dealer's own write-up is mostly boilerplate. The "super rare, low miles" claims in the ad are unverified. Treat this as a lead worth a phone call and a full set of photos rather than a sure deal, and budget for shipping from Hawaii.
The value check
The seller is asking $14,597. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $12,723–$24,640, so the middle of the market is about $18,681.50. That put this car 22% under.
Compared with original, unrestored 1973-79 F-100 Ranger and Ranger XLT trucks sold at auction in the last six months, mostly $12.7k-$24.6k (one Mecum outlier at $33k excluded). The $14,597 ask is about 22% under the $18.7k midpoint, but the dealer gives almost no condition detail, so the discount only holds if the truck checks out.

What to check
- Hawaii trucks live in salt air: check cab corners, rocker panels, floor pans, the bottoms of the doors and the bed floor and wheel arches for rust.
- Look at the frame rails and spring hangers, and at the core support under the radiator.
- The listed VIN (F10YLW03079) is shorter than a standard VIN; match it to the door tag and title before you buy.
- Mileage is unverified and the odometer only has five digits, so it may have rolled over.
- Add the $249.50 doc fee, tax and inter-island or mainland shipping to the price.
- Ask for undercarriage photos and a cold-start video, or pay for a local inspection.
Making it drive like new
A solid Ranger XLT is a good base for a mild restomod. Add front disc brake and power steering upgrades, a coilover or drop-spindle kit on the Twin I-Beam front end, and an overdrive automatic such as an AOD or 4R70W behind the 360. Vintage Air and modern wheels and tires would make it a comfortable daily driver while keeping the original trim.
