1970 Ford Torino GT SportsRoof with a pro-touring chassis, 347 stroker and 9-inch, bid far below plain GT sales
A one-owner Torino with the restomod hardware already done. Bidding is early, so expect the price to rise a lot.
1970 Ford Torino GT
Ended Why we picked it
Why we picked it: the current owner has done much of what we would do to a 1970 Torino GT SportsRoof. It has a BluePrint 347 with a Holley 4-barrel, a Hughes AOD overdrive, and a 9-inch rear with 4.30 gears. The chassis has a coilover front end with a heavier sway bar and four-wheel discs, and the car also has Vintage Air, Dakota Digital gauges, a Kwik Wire harness and a trunk-mounted fuel cell. The listing says it has a clean Tennessee title in the owner's name.
The current bid is $6,000 with 13 days left. Plain driver-grade Torino GT SportsRoofs have sold for $20,000 to $26,000, so there is room for bidding to climb and still leave a good buy. Bids on these auctions usually rise sharply near the end, so set your limit before you bid.
The value check
When we found it, the bid was $15,000. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $20,000–$26,000, so the middle of the market is about $23,000. That put this car 35% under.
Driver-quality Torino GT SportsRoofs sold for about $20,400 to $26,750 on Hagerty from late 2024 through October 2026. Those were mostly stock cars, and this one already has the suspension, brake, A/C and driveline work a restomod needs.
- 1971 Torino GT SportsRoof 351, sold $20,437 (Hagerty, Oct 2026)
- 1968 Torino GT SportsRoof 302, sold $21,400 (Hagerty, Oct 2025)
- 1971 Torino GT SportsRoof 351C, restored, sold $25,680 (Hagerty, Dec 2024)
What to check
- The seller lists cracked paint in several areas, lifting stripe decals and other cosmetic flaws.
- The brake booster needs replacing and the Vintage Air system does not blow cold. Budget for both before driving it hard.
- Rust is not mentioned. Check the rear window channel, the quarter-panel lowers, the trunk floor near the fuel cell, and the floor pans and cowl.
- The mileage is shown as TMU, so the true mileage is unknown. Ask for receipts for the engine, transmission and suspension work, which was done about 10 years ago.
- Reserve status is not shown on the page. Ask the seller whether there is one.
Making it drive like new
The basics are done, so the next steps are a new booster and master cylinder, a correctly charged A/C system, and a modern set of tires on the 17-inch wheels. After that, the paint can be sorted at your own pace. An aftermarket rear suspension kit would finish the handling package.

How it ended
Bidding reached $22,000 but the car didn't sell (ended Oct 26, 2026). Unsold cars often get relisted, so it may turn up again.
