Why we picked it

This is a 1969 Corvette convertible in Riverside Gold over black with the L46 350, the 350-horsepower option that was the strongest small-block for 1969, backed by a 4-speed manual. The dealer says the engine is matching numbers, the car is mechanically sound, and it comes with about $25,000 in receipt copies. It has side-mount exhaust, four-wheel disc brakes and Rally wheels. The listing says the paint shows its age and is not perfect, and it does not mention a hardtop.

Why we picked it: recent L46 convertible sales ran $40,000 to $44,900, and a 1968 L79 convertible sold for $36,500, so $29,950 is roughly 26% under the middle of that range. A sound, numbers-matching 4-speed car is a strong base whether you keep it close to stock or use it as the start of a mild restomod. The price leaves room for paint and sorting.

The value check

When we found it, the seller was asking $29,950. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $36,500–$44,900, so the middle of the market is about $40,700. That put this car 26% under.

Comparable 1968-69 small-block high-performance convertibles with manual gearboxes sold for $36,500 to $44,900 between August and October 2026 (L46 convertibles at $40,000 and $44,900, a 1968 L79 convertible at $36,500). At $29,950 this car is about 26% under the $40,700 midpoint.

Where the numbers come from:

What to check

  • Beverly Hills Car Club listings often leave out mileage, title and rust details (this one lists none of them), so confirm title, as-is terms and condition in person or with an inspection
  • Ask to see the engine pad stamping and VIN-derivative to back up the matching-numbers claim, and look through the receipts
  • C3 frames rust behind the rear wheels (kick-ups) and at the rear crossmember; check the birdcage at the windshield pillars and door hinge pillars
  • Check for leaking brake calipers, worn trailing-arm bushings and tired rear spindle bearings
  • Look over the fiberglass for stress cracks, poorly done panel repairs and bonding strip separation, and check the convertible top frame and its seals
  • No hardtop is mentioned, so price one in if you want it

Making it drive like new

Keep the L46 and 4-speed, and add a stainless-sleeved brake system, poly or Delrin bushings, a coilover or upgraded leaf front and rear, a 5- or 6-speed manual if you want highway gearing, an aluminum radiator with an electric fan, a modern wiring harness and Vintage Air. All of these can go back to stock, which protects the value of a matching-numbers car.
