Rare The L71 427/435 Tri-Power was a 1967-only option; the listing cites 3,754 built across coupes and convertibles.

Why we picked it

Why we picked it: this is a 1967 Corvette convertible listed as a factory L71, the 427 with three two-barrel carbs rated at 435 hp, backed by a Muncie four-speed. The seller says it was restored in 2009 and shown at SEMA that year. It is finished in Marlboro Maroon with a black soft top and black vinyl interior. It comes with a copy of the tank sticker, a sign board, a scrapbook binder and a clean Florida title. It is offered at no reserve through a Broad Arrow specialist on Hagerty Marketplace.

Bidding sits at $55,000 with the auction running until October 27. Comparable L71 convertibles without hardtops or matching-numbers paperwork have sold between about $111,000 and $155,000 in the past few months. Auction bids usually climb hard near the close, so this will not end at today's number. A no-reserve L71 still gives a patient buyer a fair shot at a car that rarely comes up in this format.

The value check

When we found it, the bid was $118,750. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $110,000–$155,000, so the middle of the market is about $132,500. That put this car 10% under.

Recent sales of 1967 L71 convertibles without a hardtop or matching-numbers proof ran from $111,000 (BaT, Oct 2026) to $155,000 (GAA, Jul 2026). Documented cars with hardtops brought $185,000-$212,000, so they were left out. The current $55,000 bid is about 58% under the $132,500 midpoint, and bids will almost certainly climb before the close.

Where the numbers come from:

What to check

  • The listing does not say the engine or transmission are numbers-matching. Check the engine pad stamp and VIN derivative against 194677S110322 before bidding.
  • The tank sticker is a copy, not the original. Ask what other build documentation exists.
  • Mileage is listed as true mileage unknown. The 2009 restoration is now 17 years old, so inspect the paint, chrome and the birdcage (the steel body frame) for rust under the fiberglass.
  • On C2s, check the frame kick-ups and rear trailing-arm mounts for rust, and look for fiberglass stress cracks around the hood and door jambs.
  • The car is sold as-is. Get a pre-purchase inspection; the listing says they are welcome.

Making it drive like new

Buyers will want to keep an L71 car close to stock, so stick to reversible upgrades. Good choices are radial tires on the stock wheel sizes, a rebuilt factory four-wheel disc brake system with stainless calipers, upgraded front sway bar bushings and an electronic ignition hidden in the stock distributor. Keep every original part in labeled storage.
