Why we picked it

This 1957 Chevrolet 3200 is the long-bed half-ton stepside, listed on Hagerty Marketplace with one bid of $10,000 and ending November 10. The seller says it has a 350 V8 with ported heads and an Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor, a rebuilt 700R4 overdrive automatic, an aluminum radiator with electric fan, a six-lug front disc brake conversion with a power booster, power steering and a metal bed floor. The seller lists over $16,000 in documented service since 2025, with shop work under a 36-month warranty, and says it cruises at 60 mph in overdrive. It comes with a clean Michigan title.

Why we picked it: comparable Task Force driver pickups have sold for about $17,000 to $32,000, and this one already has the drivetrain, cooling and brake upgrades most builders start with. Long-bed 3200s usually bring a little less than short-bed 3100s, and the listing does not say whether there is a reserve. With 11 days left, bids usually climb, but it is a strong starting point if it closes anywhere near the current bid.

The value check

The current bid is $10,000. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $17,120–$32,368, so the middle of the market is about $24,744. That put this car 60% under. Bids usually climb in the final hours, so the discount will likely shrink.

Driver-grade 1955-59 Task Force Chevy pickups sold on Hagerty Marketplace for $17,120 to $32,368 over the last two years, and a 350-powered 1957 3100 stepside was bid to $24,750 in September. The $10,000 bid plus the 7% premium is about $10,700, roughly 57% under the $24,744 midpoint.

Where the numbers come from:

What to check

  • The seller calls it rust-free, but the listed imperfections include corrosion on the grille, running boards, bed floor and inside the wheel wells; inspect cab corners, floors, door bottoms and the cab mounts
  • The listing does not state whether there is a reserve; the title does not say no reserve
  • True mileage is unknown; the 175 miles are since the drivetrain install, and the engine refresh was done by a private party with no receipt
  • Check the disc brake conversion parts and the master cylinder and booster mounting, and confirm the 700R4 TV cable is adjusted correctly, since a wrong setting kills these transmissions
  • The truck was relocated from California to Michigan; paint is patina with chips, fading and door dings
  • Hagerty adds a 7% buyer's premium; sold as-is with pickup or shipping from Michigan

Making it drive like new

The big pieces are done, so focus on a rear suspension upgrade (new leaves with a drop or a four-link), a modern steering box or rack conversion, EFI on the 350, three-point belts, LED lighting and a fresh wiring harness. A full independent front clip or a Mustang II style front end would lower it and sharpen the steering if you want a full pro-touring build.
