1971 Chevrolet C10 Suburban with a running 350, clean title, priced like a parts truck
A running, titled 1967-72 Suburban for well under project money; budget for rust and an interior.
1971 Chevrolet Suburban
Why we picked it
Why we picked it: 1967-72 Suburbans are a favorite base for long-roof restomods, and even rough project trucks have been bringing over $20,000 at auction. This 1971 C10 (2WD) Suburban has a 350 V8 and an automatic. The dealer lists recent service, a rebuilt carburetor, a new fuel tank and fuel pump, Cadillac Escalade seats, a clean title, and two new rocker panels that come with the truck. 1971 was the first year these trucks got front disc brakes from the factory.
At $7,995 it costs less than a third of the cheapest comparable sale we found. The listing is short on detail and the included rockers suggest rust work is needed, so treat it as a project that runs. Even so, the price leaves plenty of room for metal work.
The value check
The seller is asking $7,995. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $22,250–$33,000, so the middle of the market is about $27,625. That put this car 71% under.
1967-72 Suburbans in project to plain-driver condition sold from $22,250 (1967 C10 Suburban project, BaT, May 2026) to $33,000 (1972 original, GAA, Nov 2025), with $27,250 and $31,900 results in between. At $7,995 it asks about 71% under the $27,625 midpoint.

What to check
- The new rocker panels that come with it suggest the old ones are rotted; check cab corners, the floors under the second and third rows, the rear quarters around the wheel wells, the tailgate or barn-door bottoms, and the body mounts
- The listed VIN (CBL02165) is a dealer stock-style code, not a full VIN; get the real VIN and match it to the clean title the dealer mentions
- The odometer (13,894) has almost certainly rolled over; treat mileage as unknown
- The seller calls the three-door layout rare, but every 1967-72 Suburban was built as a three-door; that is not a reason to pay more
- The truck is at a client's home, not the Cadillac, MI showroom: call first, arrange an in-person look or paid inspection, and confirm as-is terms
- Confirm the listing is still live; ClassicCars.com shows no posting date
Making it drive like new
Start with the frame and rockers, then do the usual 1967-72 C10 upgrades, which also fit the Suburban: a dropped spindle or coilover front end, a rear 4-link or coil kit, bigger front discs with a modern master cylinder, and a quick-ratio steering box. The 350 can stay with EFI and an overdrive automatic (700R4 or 4L60E), or make way for an LS. Add Vintage Air and sound deadening to make it a comfortable road-trip hauler.
