1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale, one of 1,366 built, 45-plus years in one family and offered as a project
A rare Bertone SS out of 45-plus years of family ownership; non-running, so budget for a full restoration.
Rare Bertone-bodied Giulietta SS (type 101.20); 1,366 built in total, per Wikipedia.
Why we picked it
Beverly Hills Car Club is offering this 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale in Rosso over a Nero interior, chassis AR177470. The dealer says the car was owned by one family for 45-plus years and recently came out of long-term storage. It does not run. Power is the 1,290cc twin-cam four with twin side-draft Webers. The description says the odometer shows 82,531 km, and it calls the paint patinated with age-related wear. It says nothing about rust or whether the engine is original to the car.
Why we picked it: Only 1,366 Giulietta SS cars were built, and they rarely come up for sale in the US, let alone as untouched long-term-owned cars. Running original cars have sold for $78,400 to $125,000 this year. Because this one needs a full restoration, the $59,950 price is not a bargain against those sales. We are listing it because the car is genuinely rare.
The value check
The seller is asking $59,950. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $78,400–$125,000, so the middle of the market is about $101,700. That put this car 41% under.
Original, running 1961 Giulietta SS cars sold for $78,400 (Gooding, Aug 2026), $114,800 (Broad Arrow, Mar 2026) and $125,000 (BaT, Aug 2026). We found no recent project sales, so these are running-car comps, and this non-running car is listed on rarity, not as a price-vs-comps deal. A 1962 car was bid to only EUR 48,000 without selling at Artcurial in October 2026.

What to check
- Beverly Hills Car Club listings often leave out mileage, title and rust details. Confirm the title, the as-is terms and the condition in person or with an inspection.
- Check the Bertone body for rust in the sills, floors, the lower nose, the headlight buckets and the rear valance. Panel and trim parts for the SS are scarce and costly.
- Confirm the engine number against the chassis number, and check that SS-specific parts are present: the dash, the Weber DCO3 carbs, the bumpers and badges.
- The car has been stored for a long time. Expect a full fuel system, brake and clutch hydraulics, and cooling system rebuild.
- The 1.3 SS has front drum brakes. Inspect the drums and the 5-speed gearbox synchros.
Making it drive like new
Keep it period-correct: rebuild the twin-cam with care and fit an electronic ignition hidden in the original distributor. Add a modern fuel pump with a regulator and an aluminum radiator styled like the original. Good tires and freshly relined drums, or a reversible disc conversion, make it safer to drive. Keep every original part so the car can be restored to stock later.
