Why we picked it

Why we picked it: steel-bodied 1932 Ford coupes are the core of the hot rod world, and this five-window has the right recipe. The listing says it has a steel body with a 3-inch chop, fiberglass widened rear fenders and hood, a rebuilt (2020) Oldsmobile 350 with aluminum heads and a Holley, a Muncie four-speed with a McLeod clutch, Mustang II front suspension with coilovers, rack-and-pinion steering, a chrome four-link and four-wheel disc brakes. It has a clean Ohio title.

The bid was $16,000 when we looked, far below what finished '32 coupes bring. The page does not say whether there is a reserve, and the auction ends November 3, so expect the price to rise.

The value check

The current bid is $18,250. Comparable cars in the same condition have sold for $24,250–$79,200, so the middle of the market is about $51,725. That put this car 65% under. Bids usually climb in the final hours, so the discount will likely shrink.

1932 Ford sales on classic.com in 2026 ran from a $24,250 hot rod roadster to a $55,007 modified car on BaT and a $79,200 3-window coupe at Barrett-Jackson. The $16,000 bid is about 70% under the midpoint, but reserve status is not stated.

Where the numbers come from:

What to check

  • Reserve status is not stated, and bids usually climb near the end.
  • Confirm whether the body is original Henry Ford steel or a reproduction steel body (Brookville or similar); it affects value a lot.
  • The odometer and speedometer read 0 and are not calibrated, so true miles since the build are unknown.
  • Check the chop welds, door gaps, frame welds and the four-link mounts.
  • Ask for the seller's list of modifications and repairs mentioned in the gallery, and any build records from before 2023.

Making it drive like new

Already a modernized rod. Common upgrades are a calibrated speedometer, a fuel injection swap for the Holley, an overdrive five-speed in place of the Muncie for highway cruising, and A/C.
