1993–98 Toyota Supra Mk IV (A80) chassis
This car is a unibody, so there's no separate frame to replace. The way to modernize it is to upgrade the original suspension, stiffen the body shell and fix the known weak spots.
Upgrade the original chassis
- How it's built
- Steel unibody
- Front suspension
- Double wishbone suspension with coil springs and an anti-roll bar. Power rack-and-pinion steering.
- Rear suspension
- Double wishbone independent rear suspension on a rubber-mounted subframe. Turbo models use a Torsen limited-slip differential.
- Weak spots
- Rust is uncommon but can appear in the rear wheel arches and lower panels on cars from salted regions. Most cars now need bushings, ball joints and dampers, and the soft rubber subframe and differential mounts allow wheel hop and vague rear response.
Stiffening the body or frame? We list 2 kits for this car, such as frame rails, subframe connectors and braces, on its Chassis stiffening page.
