1989–98 Nissan 240SX (S13 & S14) chassis

This car is a unibody, so there's no separate frame to replace. The way to modernize it is to upgrade the original suspension, stiffen the body shell and fix the known weak spots.

Upgrade the original chassis

How it's built
Steel unibody
Front suspension
MacPherson struts with lower control arms, tension rods and coil springs. Power rack-and-pinion steering.
Rear suspension
Multi-link independent rear suspension on a rubber-mounted subframe, with an open or viscous limited-slip differential. Some S13 models had HICAS rear-wheel steering.
Weak spots
Rear wheel arches, rocker panels and strut towers rust, and many cars have damaged or crushed frame rails from jacking and drifting. Subframe and differential bushings are soft and worn, which causes wheel hop and rear steer.

Stiffening the body or frame? We list 3 kits for this car, such as frame rails, subframe connectors and braces, on its Chassis stiffening page.
