Brakes for the 1964–67 Chevelle, GTO & GM A-body

Disc brake conversions. Kits made for your car first, then universal parts that fit most cars, and every maker we track.

What it is

Most 1950s to '70s cars left the factory with drum brakes at all four corners, or with small front discs and a single-circuit master cylinder. A disc brake conversion swaps the drums for modern rotors and calipers, usually with a dual-circuit master cylinder, a power booster and new lines. Kits come front-only, rear-only or for all four wheels.

Why it matters

Drums fade after a few hard stops, pull to one side when they're wet and need a heavy pedal. Discs stop straight, stop again and again, and need less effort. It's the single biggest safety upgrade for a classic that will share the road with modern traffic. A dual-circuit master cylinder means a leak at one end still leaves you brakes at the other, and bigger rotors often let you run larger modern wheels.
