1961–75 Travelall chassis
We haven't found a complete aftermarket chassis for this car yet, so the way to modernize it is to stiffen and upgrade the original frame.
Upgrade the original chassis
- How it's built
- Body-on-frame wagon on the IH light-truck chassis (C/D-series 1961-68, then the 1969-75 line); four-door versions arrived for 1961.
- Front suspension
- Most 2WD models used a solid I-beam front axle on leaf springs; 4x4s used a solid Dana 44 front axle on leaf springs.
- Rear suspension
- Solid axle on leaf springs.
- Weak spots
- Heavy rust, scarce body and trim parts, drum brakes, and old-fashioned steering and spring rates.
