Reading these prices

Starting prices aren't always comparable. Some include suspension, steering and brakes; some are a bare frame or front clip and the rest is extra. Check the Front and Rear columns and each product's notes before comparing totals. "Price on request" means the builder quotes each build. Confirm with the builder before you order, and send corrections through our contact page.

Upgrade the original chassis

How it's built
Body-on-frame ladder chassis on a long wheelbase shared with the squarebody pickups; four-door body from 1973. Became R/V-series in 1987.
Front suspension
2WD: coil-spring independent front with A-arms and recirculating-ball steering. 4x4: solid front axle on leaf springs.
Rear suspension
Solid axle on leaf springs (GM moved the rear to leaf springs for 1973).
Weak spots
Rust in rockers, cab corners, floors and rear wheel openings; very heavy, so brakes and stock springs work hard; steering-box mount area can crack the frame.
