Reading these prices
Starting prices aren't always comparable. Some include suspension, steering and brakes; some are a bare frame or front clip and the rest is extra. Check the Front and Rear columns and each product's notes before comparing totals. "Price on request" means the builder quotes each build. Confirm with the builder before you order, and send corrections through our contact page.
Upgrade the original chassis
How it's built
Unibody rear structure with a bolt-on, rubber-isolated front subframe (longer and stiffer than the 1st gen)
Front suspension
SLA A-arms with coil springs; Saginaw recirculating-ball steering (mostly integral power)
Rear suspension
Live axle on multi-leaf springs with staggered or near-vertical shocks
Weak spots
The rubber-mounted subframe and unibody still flex, worst on T-top cars. Stock geometry has little camber gain, the bushings are soft, and leaf springs allow wheel hop and axle wrap.
Stiffening the body or frame? We list 7 kits for this car, such as frame rails, subframe connectors and braces, on its Chassis stiffening page.
